The autopsy report of 18-year-old Vikrant Nand who died while in custody at the Nakasi Police Station last month has been forwarded to a Resident Magistrate to determine whether an inquest is required.
Director of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission Ashwin Raj confirms the report was forwarded to the Resident Magistrate yesterday.
He says the commission has interviewed eleven police officers from the Nakasi Police Station and also conducted an inspection of the cell block where Vikrant was held.
Raj says they have also obtained necessary documents including copies of station diaries and registers.
18-year-old, Vikrant Nand was found dead inside his cell block on the 16th of last month.
