Over 20 years of poor road conditions along Nakoromakawa Road, outside Nausori, is now a thing of the past.
Fiji Roads Authority confirms that its contractors Fulton Hogan Hiways have completed the upgrade work on that road.
Nakoromakawa Village headman Mitieli Rokodua says that he has been walking all his life and is happy that this has come to an end.
He says that there has never been any maintenance on this road and they would have to walk every day.
The road work has benefitted over 40 farmers who supply yaqona, dalo and vegetables to the Nausori Market.
It has also benefitted about 200 villagers living there.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Rewa Depot Manager, Suliasi Lesianavanua says that the upgrade will significantly improve access for the farmers, especially during the rainy weather.
The Nakoromakawa Village is in the Tailevu Province and is at least 20 kilometers away from the Nausori town.
