44-year-old Sudesh Mani Naidu who allegedly murdered a 74-year-old woman at Johnson Road in Lautoka on 13th January, 2013 told the Suva High Court today that he was assaulted by Police officers during the caution interview.
Naidu took the stand and told the court the officers at Lautoka Police Station forced him to give the interview and also forced him to say yes to their questions.
He told Justice Salesi Temo that he was slapped on the back of his head and on his right ear.
Naidu also told the court that the officers called him a dog and told him to sign on the caution interview.
Justice Temo then asked Naidu if his ear was ringing when he was slapped.
Naidu said that it was ringing.
Naidu also claimed in court today that the officers had removed his clothes after first day’s caution interview and he had to sleep inside the cell in his underwear.
Naidu told the court that he felt worse than an animal with this treatment.
It is alleged that Naidu robbed 74-year-old Vidiya Wati of $2,200 worth of assorted jewellery and then murdered her at Johnson Road in Lautoka on 13th January, 2013.
Earlier today Justice Salesi Temo decided that 44-year-old Sudesh Mani Naidu has a case to answer after the prosecution wrapped up it’s case.
