The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling on authorities to act to stamp out the stray dog issue that is becoming worse after 2‑year‑old Amari Whippy got seriously injured after stray dogs attacked her in their family compound at Narewa in Nadi on Friday.
She had to undergo emergency surgery.
The President of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Doctor Ram Raju says they have made several submissions in the past and they have had numerous meetings with the Nadi Town Council and Police to act on this nuisance.
He says they have also talked about stray dogs and other animals in their submission to the National Budget that this menace has to be controlled.
Doctor Raju says many tourists and locals have been victims of horrific dog attacks.
He stresses that this matter needs to be addressed by a joint task force by the Ministry of Local Government, Health and Tourism.
