The rape trial of a 38-year-old man from Nabua who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in 2013 started in the Suva High Court this morning.
It is alleged that Nitendra Prasad Bilash raped the 16-year-old girl at his residence in Nabua on 22nd July, 2013.
The court was told that the girl was babysitting at Bilash’s house when the alleged incident took place.
While giving evidence in court today, the girl said she was asked by Bilash to look after his daughter as her father used to cut grass at Bilash’s home.
She told the court that Bilash allegedly raped her after returning from work.
She said she was scared and told Bilash to stop what he was doing.
The girl told her mother about the alleged incident which was then reported to Police.
Bilash has pleaded not guilty to one count of rape.
The trial will continue this afternoon before Justice Vincent Parera.
