Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key has congratulated Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for the elections and highlighted its significance in strengthening Fiji and New Zealand relations.
Key said he wanted to offer his congratulations in Bainimarama’s appointment as Fiji’s democratically-elected Prime Minister, following FijiFirst party’s victory.
The newly elected Prime Minister of New Zealand also took time to commend the electoral process overseen by the Multinational Observer Group.
He also extended commendation to the Elections Office and the Electoral Commission for the conduct of the election as it was an important event for Fiji, which represented the culmination of a comprehensive process.
He said his Government looks forward to working with Bainimarama and his government to continue the process of re-engagement between the two countries.
