The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand says it is not planning to restrict the operation of Max 8 aircraft into the country.

Radio NZ is reporting that Fiji Airways has two Max 8s and is the only airline flying the planes into New Zealand.

The civil aviation authority said it was satisfied with the steps taken to ensure the safety of their operation.

Fiji Airways has stated that a comprehensive induction process was followed for their new Max 8 aircraft and it had full confidence in the airworthiness of their fleet.

The airline said the safety of its passengers and crew is, and always will be, their number one priority.
