The Seven Non-Government Organisations that provide services to disadvantaged children, elderly and persons living with disabilities have received over $90,000 grant from the Fijian government.
Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar presented the cheques to the Trumpet Trust, Saint Christopher’s Home, Fiji Society for the Blind, Homes of Hope, the new Samaritan Mission International and Dilkusha Home Residential.
Akbar says a total of $200,000 grant is provided by the government through the Ministry, to assist these organisations and its work.
Meanwhile, the Trumpet Trust that looks after the orphan, widows, single parents and elders of Tikina of Nakelo applied for assistance for the first time and received $5,000 from the Ministry.
A total of 19 civil society organisations will benefit from the $200,000 as 12 disability organisations that affiliate to the Fiji National Council for Disabled were provided with similar grant by the Ministry last month.
