The National Federation Party has said it will be mounting a campaign through various means and raise the matter in Parliament again about Professor Brij Lal and Dr Padma Lal’s ban on entering Fiji.
In a press conference today, Party Leader Biman Prasad said they have evidence that the decision to ban the two from entering the country has come from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Prasad is urging the Prime Minister to lift the ban placed on the two.
The NFP leader said it is insulting that Professor Lal who was honoured by Fiji for his contribution to the country especially for his work on the Constitution Review Commission, is perceived to be a threat to Fiji’s safety and security.
Prasad said the FijiFirst government is hounding Lal like a common criminal.
We have contacted the Minister for Immigration, National Security and Defence Timoci Natuva who said they stand by their decision.
He said it will be a waste of time for Professor Lal and his wife to make another application as they have made their decision.
When asked on why the two have been banned from entering Fiji, Natuva highlighted that there are a series of allegations against them and he has already written to Professor Lal.
