The National Federation Party’s proposed candidates were asked at Korociriciri Primary School in Nausori yesterday whether they will increase corporate taxes or decrease the income tax threshold from $16,000 if they form the next government.
A resident of Korociriciri, Nausori told NFP’s proposed candidates in a campaign meeting that NFP has only said that it will reduce VAT from 15 to 10 percent but the party has not said whether it will change other taxes where people may have to pay more.
NFP’s proposed candidate, Attar Singh then said that they will only reduce VAT and are not talking about increasing other taxes.
Another proposed candidate for NFP, Pramod Rae also said that there will be no need to increase any tax as there will be more revenue generated by reducing VAT.
Rai believes that people will spend more.
Meanwhile, Attar Singh also revealed yesterday that NFP will remove all students from the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme and will provide them with scholarships.
Singh did not tell the people how much this will cost and where they will get the money from.
34 people attended NFP’s campaign meeting.
