Part of the Strategic Plan for 2018 and beyond for the National Fire Authority is to reduce their response time from 10 minutes to 5 minutes.
This was revealed by the Assistant Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Lorna Eden while officiating at the National Fire Authority Stakeholder Workshop for the development of the Strategic Plan for 2018 – 2022.
She adds that there are also plans for people to have access to transportation through efficient and sustainable transport methods where the National Fire Authority will be required to extend its’ service coverage to another 11 areas.
These areas include, Navua, Deuba, Sigatoka, Rakiraki, Ba, Korovou, Nadi, Lautoka Sauvsavu, Labasa and Taveuni.
Eden says that part of its strategic plan is to also create new work centres in Navua, Korovou, Nabouwalu, Keyasi, Vunidawa and Seaqaqa to create vibrant and environmentally sustainable urban centres.
She says that the progressive expansion of the provision of emergency ambulance services by the National Fire Authority will include areas in Korolevu, Korovou, Sigatoka, Ba and Labasa.
A total of 30 participants from government, Police, Water Authority and the National Fire Authority will be part of the workshop.
