Andrew “Drixstar” Bolakoro

Upcoming local artist, Andrew Buka Bolakoro who is commonly known as “Drixstar” says his grandfather inspired him to pursue music in Fiji.

Growing up in a musical family, Bolakoro who is from Namuka-i-Lau has been nominated for the FPRA Best New Artist Award along with young Suliasi Uluilakeba and some other new artists.

Bolakoro did not expect his music to get this popular.

Some of the famous songs that Bolakoro has recorded are Lasutaka, Cava Tiko Mada, Bus Ride, Sau Tiko Viti and his latest “Flags Up in the Air” which was recorded for the Coca Cola Games this year.

Meanwhile, the Fijian Teachers Association has presented a cheque of $5,000 as sponsors of the “Best New Artist Award”.

The FPRA Music Awards will be held next Saturday at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
