38‑year‑old Aisake Vana Junior who allegedly killed his younger brother after an argument over dhal last year today told the Suva High Court that his brother did not respect him because most of his friends were girls.
While being crossed examined by State Counsel Juleen Fatiaki, Vana said the incident was an accident and it was not a willingful act.
The accused has also disputed the evidence given by the first prosecution witness, Salanieta Divolivoli that she heard the deceased telling the accused not to grab the knife.
He said he was already holding the knife because he was chopping onions.
Aisake Vana Junior is charged with one count of manslaughter.
He allegedly stabbed his brother, Suliasi Veisere on the 5th of April, 2016 at their family home in Kalabu.
The accused has pleaded not guilty before High Court Judge Justice Vinsent Perera.
