Police are now hunting for Mukesh Naidu who allegedly collected close to $3 million from more than a 100 people in August this year.
Police said Naidu has several pending cases in court and he is alleged to have collected money in different amounts from various people and promised them land lots in Tacirua.
It is alleged that Mukesh Naidu sold the same piece of land twice or even thrice to people.
A resident of Sakoca settlement Sunil Prasad said Naidu took money from the public promising that they will be given a piece of land however he is on the run.
Prasad added people are now in a limbo as most of them are poor and displaced farmers from the Northern and Western division.
He said some of these residents have paid close to $20,000 to Naidu.
More than 100 people who were cheated by Naidu filed complaints against Naidu with the Commerce Commission and the matter has been taken to the court.
