Motibhai Group of Companies has pledged $15,000 to support the Fiji Cancer Society for the next five years to help with its operational costs.
While launching its annual fundraising event, known as Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea, Motibhai’s Marketing Manager Abraham Gomes says to further their commitment, they launched a promotion, where by 5 cents from every packet of Bushells tea sold, between May to September will go as cash donation towards the society.
Gomes says Motibhai has estimated that they will raise an excess of $30,000 from the promotion to go to the Fiji Cancer Society’s charity fund account.
He also highlighted that the campaign raised a total of $61,000 last year, where 70 corporate and private organisations took part to raise funds to support the Fiji Cancer Society.
The President of the Fiji Cancer Society Philip Low says most of the fund is used for patient care, palliative care, medication for economically challenged patients, counseling, assisting patients for overseas treatments and transportation for treatment.
The Fiji Cancer Society with the Ministry of Health has yet to sign a MOU that would establish a database for cancer patients around the country.
