Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka says Mother’s Day is an opportunity for all of us to reflect, understand the divine and creative nature of God’s gift through our mothers who not only bring life to individuals, but to the nation as a whole.

Rabuka says as siblings they were blessed to have a wonderful mother who instilled in each of them the values of love and respect for all, values he still carries today.

He says in our modern and fast changing society, particularly in Fiji, it’s time to reflect on our mother’s contribution to our national social‑economic development.

Rabuka stresses that mothers and women will continue to be an integral part of our effort to bring about unity, inclusiveness and socio‑economic development.

He says SODELPA will continue to embrace and implement the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), particularly for mothers.
