A 58-year-old mother of Baulevu, Nausori is shattered after the death of her only son, Kaushal Singh who passed away in the tragic incident in Kasavu early yesterday morning when the vehicle he was travelling in veered off the road and went into Rewa River.
Savitri Devi says her son was picked up to go to work by a man in his car at 4.30am yesterday.
Devi claims the man who came to pick her son was sleeping in the car while it was parked outside their house.
She says when Kaushal entered the car, the driver washed his face and then drove away with his son.
Devi says she was told about the tragic incident at around 9am.
Kaushal’s mother says the man who came to pick her son always used to drop and pick him from home whenever he used to start or finish work at odd hours.
Savitri Devi says Kaushal had returned home at around 9pm on Monday and asked her to warm the food and had told her that he will be going to work early next morning.
She says Kaushal also sat next to her and pampered her before they went to sleep.
Devi says Kaushal had told her to wake him at 3.30am on Tuesday but when she woke him up, Kaushal told her that he wanted to sleep for another five minutes.
Devi says the car arrived soon after and she woke Kaushal up and he left in the car after saying bye twice to her.
Devi also told Fijivillage that plans were already in place for her 25-year-old son to get married next year to his girlfriend.
Kaushal Singh’s funeral details have not been finalised as yet as the post mortem examination is expected to be carried out soon.
