The mother of the girl who was allegedly raped by her step-father told the court today that she did not report the matter in 2006 because they would have no place to live.
During the cross examination, defence lawyer Naca Bulisea asked her why she did not report the matter when she saw the accused touching her daughter.
She told the court that they were newly married and she and her two children were living at the accused’s house.
The girl’s mother told the court that she reported the matter in 2012 after she saw husband beating up her daughter.
The 54-year-old man is charged with one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault.
It is alleged that the man raped his 11-year-old stepdaughter between 1st January 2006 to 31st December 2006.
The complainant gave her evidence in the trial yesterday.
