Assistant Minister Vijay Nath said government is pouring a lot of money in maintaining the roads and some of the trucks and loaders are exceeding their legal weight limit.
Nath said at the moment drivers are fined $1,000 if their vehicles are found exceeding their weight limit but the fine is expected to increase soon.
