More than 300 people participated in the 5th International Day of Yoga and Vegetarian Food Festival hosted by the High Commission of India in Fiji and India Fiji Friendship Forum at My Suva Park today.
The program was officiated by the Permanent Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister, Yogesh Karan who says the Fijian government is trying to educate people to promote a healthier lifestyle and Yoga could be one of the most effective choices.
He says Fiji has one of the highest death rates in the Pacific due to non communicable diseases and believes that Yoga can be one of the most effective ways of living a healthier lifestyle.
Permanent Secretary for Fisheries Craig Strong also supported the initiative and also did Yoga with other participants.
High Commissioner of India Padmaja says that for people to be successful they have to keep their body, mind and soul fit and Yoga keeps people fit.
