More than 300 Fijians in Tukavesi, Natewa in Cakaudrove will benefit from the Solar Hybrid Project following the commissioning of the project by the Minister for Infrastructure, Jone Usamate.
While officiating at the event, Usamate says that the $1 million investment by the government, will assist 372 Fijians, 92 homes and the nearby Kama District School.
Usamate has also urged elders and parents to make use of the electricity wisely and responsibly.
He has encouraged the people of Tukavesi to use this service to enhance income-generating activities and create business opportunities, so at the end of the day, they can better prepare their children for the future.
Usamate says that the solar hybrid project is part of the government’s work in granting electricity access for all Fijians by 2021.
The Minister adds that for the past 10 years government has invested more than $230 million on Rural Electrification Projects that s involves work on the EFL Grid Extension, Solar Home Systems, Micro‑hydro, and Energy Hybrid Systems.
