More than 12,000 forms have been issued to members of Fiji National Provident Fund in the Western Division needing assistance.
FNPF has confirmed that on-site inspections have been conducted to all the flooded areas issued by the Commissioner Western’s office and teams are now conducting follow up visits to members who may have missed out on the inspections and are living in those affected areas.
The Fund has received an influx of calls, emails and social media messages from members requesting for application forms also enquiring why their locations are not listed for inspection.
FNPF Chief Executive Officer, Jaoji Koroi says that most of the members who are not living in the affected areas are turning up in locations where their teams are visiting and unfortunately some Turaga ni Koros and Councilors are allowing this to happen, and this delays their efforts to assist those who genuinely need assistance.
Meanwhile, a total of $2.83 million has been paid out to 3,373 members.
Members have also enquired about the extension of the Natural Disaster assistance to Kadavu and Labasa, however, Koroi says the Fund will continue to liaise with the respective Divisional Commissioners before any decision is made.
Koroi says they will work closely with the Commissioner Eastern’s office with regard to assistance in Kadavu.
Inspections in the Western Division is due to wrap up by the end of this week.
