More lights need to be installed at Labasa Airport before commencement of night flights - AFL

Airports Fiji Limited has installed night lights on the runway at Labasa Airport, however, more lights need to be installed at nearby areas before night flights can start from Labasa.

AFL says the lights have been installed on the land that it has in its possession.            

AFL further states that as announced during the launch in August last year, completion of this project is subject to land acquisition on either side of the runway.

It says land acquisition is not entirely in Airports Fiji Limited’s control and various land agencies are involved and a process has to be followed.

No time frame has been given as to when night flights will start from Labasa Airport.

The Chairman of Airports Fiji Limited Faiz Khan has stated in August last year that works on night landing facility will be completed by the end of November last year.
