More charges laid on Chinese nationals in relation to ATM scam

More charges have been laid on the six Chinese nationals who are charged in relation to the ATM scam in Lautoka.

The six have appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court and have been further remanded in custody.

Divisional Prosecuting Officer Western, Assistant Superintendent Anil Prasad says 12 fresh charges have been laid against these people and more charges are expected to be laid as the investigation is still ongoing.

The six have been charged with 10 counts of theft and 10 counts of dishonestly obtaining or dealing with personal financial information.

Prasad says the six were allegedly found in possession of 384 ATM cards.

Another 104 ATM cards, a card making device and a laptop were found inside a sofa in the hotel room where these men were staying.

Prasad says they are still working with Chinese police to assist in the translation of the information found in the laptop.

The matter has been adjourned to the 22nd of this month.
