Moira Solvalu John’s designs dominated the runway of Fiji Fashion Week’s final show with the plus size latest collection from her label 8 Mountains, winning the FJFW Designer of the Year Award and the FJFW Special Achievement Award.
8 Mountains by Moira Solvalu John is made in and inspired by Fiji and this year had a Tropical Gold collection about the journey of development and passion that has made 8 Mountains what it is today.
Fourth generation Fijian and established designer, Robert Kennedy's Henikai collection made a remarkable return to the runway of Fiji Fashion Week winning the FJFW Textile Excellence Award.
Ana Waqaniburotu was awarded the FJFW model of the year award.
While speaking the Fiji Fashion Week 10 year anniversary, Gold Couture Show, Minister for Tourism and Trade Faiyaz koya highlighted that Fiji Fashion Week has established itself as a platform for designers to grow and market their brand.
He adds that Fiji clearly punches above its weight when it comes to creativity with the amount of talent shown by designers at this year’s Fiji Fashion Week 10 year anniversary.
Koya also challenged the designers to acquire a logo, to take ownership of the logo and make it grow, as this is an opportunity be part of the "Fiji" brand, and to market and promote their designs and creations under the successful and recognized banner of Fijian Designed.
