Great relief for people who are facing difficulties in travelling to the Pacific Eye Institute for eye related services as the Mobile Eye Clinic has been launched which will go around the country.
This Mobile Eye Clinic has an operating theater, a place for eye examination and will also provide services such as eye photography and laser treatment and spectacle provision.
Health Minister Jone Usamate while launching the Clinic said many in Fiji still lack access to eye care.
He said the clinic is designed to dramatically reduce this burden which will allow hundreds of additional eye operations and treatments performed each year.
The construction of the Mobile Eye Clinic has been made possible through the Fred Hollows Foundation New Zealand that collected over $1 million from a number of donors from New Zealand.
The Fiji Water Foundation has also come on board and will bear the cost of the truck which will take this Mobile Eye Clinic around the country.
