“I will continue to advocate the topic of disabled people because it is something I strongly believe in.”
Miss Value City Matilda Vakarau who was crowned Miss Sugar Festival 2016 made this comment to Fijivillage regarding her crowning as Miss Sugar Festival.
Vakarau says she was emotional and beyond surprised when her name was called out as the winner of the pageant.
She says she will continue now with her advocacy of disabled people as it is still an issue in the country.
Vakarau says she aims to make more people aware of the abilities people have and not the disabilities.
Vakarau who is a student at the University of the South Pacific says she took a break from school as she had to take care of her father.
She adds that she will continue her advocacy into the Miss Fiji Pageant as she wants to help people with special needs.
