Losing our coral reefs to climate change in a way affects our traditions and culture.

Stressing the importance of coral reefs not only along the Coral Coast but across Fiji, Miss Sigatoka Magdalene Vollmer says this is of utmost importance as corals play a role in our tourism industry and the country as a whole.

The 20-year-old hopes to spread this message not just within Sigatoka but across Fiji during the Telecom Miss Fiji Pageant.

The Miss Fiji Pageant 2017 is now underway at the Thurston Gardens with 11 municipality Queens vying for the Miss Fiji Crown.

The contestants Sarong and first public judging will be held at 7pm tomorrow night at the Fiji Museum stage.

Miss Fiji will be crowned at 7pm this Saturday.

Miss Fiji will then take part in the upcoming Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in December in Nadi.
