There is lack of space in the Lautoka Hospital and the Ministry of Health is trying to solve the issue as soon as possible.
Health Minister Jone Usamate made this comment after concerns raised by a Lautoka resident who went for a surgery and was told that there is no empty bed in the hospital.
Usamate says due to lack of space there is a shortage of beds, however, he will ensure that despite the situation patients are given the best service.
The man says that he was called on the 29th of February this year by the Lautoka Hospital Surgical Department for a cyst surgery on his belly button which is the size of a kava bowl but when he reached the surgical department, he was sent home.
He says he has visited the hospital numerous times but they keep telling him that no beds are available.
