The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Fiji Police Force to ensure that they are equipped and ready to respond to the victims of domestic violence.
This agreement will ensure that continuous skilling programs are available for police officers to know operating procedures when dealing with domestic violence cases.
Minister, Rosy Akbar says a scheduled monitoring and evaluation program will also be included to see that service quality is assured at all times.
Akbar says Fiji is rated second in the Pacific in the abuse of Women, girls and children and it is not something we should be proud of.
Akbar says we all have a responsibility to protect women and girls from all forms of harmful practices be it early and forced marriages or even sexual abuse.
