Industry, Trade and Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya said standards of building and building materials requires immediate review and revision
He made these comments in Walu Bay during the integration function of the Blue Scope Pacific Steel Proprietors Limited taking over Fletcher Pacific Steel.
Koya said in the first six months of 2014, heightened construction activity was seen in the country.
He said this in other words presses huge reliance on manufacturing industries in terms of meeting the demands of construction industries.
He added it is evident that the demand is growing with reference to the number of building permits for construction of building, shops, restaurants, offices, warehouses, hotels and commercial building around the country.
He further said the Fijian government is committed to ensure that all buildings, whether they are homes or commercial properties, comply with international standards.
