Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma said they have taken necessary measures to make hospitals safe.
His comments come after a male patient admitted in one of the Men’s Wards in Labasa hospital allegedly raped a female patient last month.
Police had earlier confirmed that the alleged incident took place in the toilet of the hospital.
Dr Sharma did not reveal the specific measures taken.
He has refused to make further comments on the issue.
The Health Ministry said last month that it does not condone any such activity within the hospital premises and is taking the matter seriously.
The Ministry further stated that it is putting in place strategies to prevent future occurrences of similar incidents.
