787 child welfare cases were reported to the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation between August last year to April 2017.
Minister, Mereseini Vuniwaqa says the highest number of cases were recorded in the South and Eastern Division.
She says that 143 cases were referred for counseling.
Vuniwaqa adds that 32 children are under the care of the state with plans in place to ensure every child’s well being is taken care of.
She stresses that they will continue to monitor their progress on a timely basis.
The Minister also highlights that in terms of children in conflict with the law, they have a total of 29 juveniles under state supervision with the majority from the Northern Division.
