Serious concerns have been raised by the Ministry of Transport in relation to Public Service Vehicle drivers not adhering to road rules and just focusing on making money.
The Deputy Secretary for Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport Lui Naisara says some PSV drivers sometimes forget they are carrying passengers in their vehicles.
While speaking at the 12th Annual General Meeting of the Fiji Van and Carrier Operators’ Association Naisara says some PSV drivers are engaged in illegal practices on our roads by running a red light and swerving their vehicles in different lanes.
Naisara has also urged members of the Fiji Van and Carrier Operators’ Association to work together with relevant organisations in relation to their concerns.
He says a total of 110,763 vehicles were registered in Fiji last year which was an increase of about 20 percent compared to 2015.
