The Ministry of Health is working collaboratively with UNICEF to host a training program on how to collect data and report on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for different schools and communities.
Minister for Health, Jone Usamate said the training will help the members of the public to use mobile and wireless technologies to support the achievement of health objectives which has the potential to transform the face of health service delivery across the world.
He said after the training, members of the public will then be able to collect data with their phones and send it to a separate source so that people can use the data for planning.
The minister said basic cost benefit analysis have shown that the use of mobile based data collection tools can drastically reduce administrative overhead and operational complexity.
The training program begins today at the Suva Business Centre and will end this Friday.
