A vehicle not in operation at Fiji’s London Mission became the subject of discussions in the Public Accounts Committee meeting today as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was questioned on inconsistencies in the Foreign Missions monthly acquittal reports in 2016.
It was SODELPA MP Aseri Radrodro who raised the alarm saying that these types of reports should make the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aware of the needs of the respective overseas missions.
He then said that when they went to the London Mission, there was a vehicle that had not been in operation for more than 3 or 5 years showing the need for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pay attention to monthly acquittal reports.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director Finance Josua Tuma then said that they are using acquittals to help identify the needs of the missions.
The Ministry of Economy officials present at the meeting said they would check with the Government Management Fleet Service.
Deputy Chair of the Public Accounts Mohammed Dean then said that he hopes the vehicle has been replaced because the Prime Minister was just in London.
