The Prosecution Unit of the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations has opened an investigation to determine whether Speenaikcedar Corporation Limited is conducting operations in Naselai Village to illegally recruit locals for foreign employment.
Minister for Employment Jone Usamate has encouraged members of the public who have paid money to the Speenaikcedar Corporation to come forward with copies of receipts to formally lodge complaints with the Ministry.
Usamate says Speenaikcedar Corporation is not authorised to operate as an employment agency in Fiji.
He says anyone who is interested in pursuing overseas employment should only seek to do so through the National Employment Centre or with registered employment agencies in Fiji.
Usamate stresses that all members of the public should always request a ministry‑issued “Certificate of Authorisation” from employment agencies which gives clear indication that an employment agency is legally authorized to enlist, recruit and deploy Fijians for overseas employment.
