The Ministry of Health is looking at strictly laying charges against those people found with surroundings that could breed dengue mosquitoes.
Spokesperson Sunil Chandra said the Ministry is always strict on the offenders and will not hesitate to charge or summon anyone found offending through the normal court system.
Chandra said under the Public Health Act, the penalty is $10 but once charged you will be taken to court and the fines are severe.
He said these fines and charges are under review which would be increased to a substantial amount.
He added the Ministry is continuing to receive dengue cases from health facilities around the country.
There have been 212 dengue fever cases recorded throughout Fiji.
