The Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has requested for an increase in their 2015 budget allocation.
Minister for Women Rosy Sofia Akbar said the Ministry will continue with all its programs next year which includes Poverty Benefitting Scheme, the Care and Protection Program, Social Pension Scheme, the government's Bus Fare Concession and the Expanded Food Voucher Program for pregnant mothers, Welfare Graduation program and Income generating program for women.
Akbar stressed that the ministry will strive to reach out to as many people within the budget provided and will work with corporate companies, Non-Government Organizations and donor agencies.
The total budget allocated to the ministry for this year was $39.5 million.
Finance Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will announce the 2015 National Budget this Friday.
