The Ministry of Housing and Local Government does not start any developments on i-Taukei or state land without a development lease.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Local Government and Housing, Parveen Bala when asked by SODELPA MP, Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki if there were consultations done prior to developments as some are against the acquisition of the land like the Waidamudamu land issue.
Bala reiterated that the Ministry of Local Government has not entered into any land without a development lease.
The Housing Minister also confirmed that a complete draft policy on the relocation of informal settlements is now with the Solicitor General’s Office.
Bala confirmed this after Opposition MP Jiosefa Dukaliverata asked him which informal settlements will be relocated and where will they be relocated to.
