The increase in cases of rapes, defilement, teenage pregnancies and incest is a testament of an emerging valueless society.
This is the comment made by Deputy Secretary of Defence, Ilai Moceica while launching the first Ministry of Defence consultative workshop to address sexual violence through smart censorship of adult sites.
Moceica says the objective of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to brainstorm and discuss critical steps to be holistically undertaken by government.
He says the appalling crimes have increased dramatically and most, if not all involves close relatives.
Moceica adds that the internet is the greatest invention of mankind and the possibility of accessing adult sites by anybody is inevitable as any search word associated with it would definitely lead anyone to these restricted websites.
He says although it has not been proven that pornography is directly associated with sexual crime, the type of scene, style and setting creates an environment of meditation and fantasy in a viewer to crave for the same amount of satisfaction as falsely portrayed in the scenes and it is assumed that people accessing these adult websites regularly would no doubt lead to the committal of these serious crimes.
