Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala says the Ministry has assisted ten families this year after receiving $1 million grant from the Government for the assistance of house fire victims.
Bala revealed this in parliament yesterday when questioned by MP Alvick Maharaj to explain to the House the Government’s Program that is in place to assist house fire victims.
Bala says the assistance is only eligible for those families whose homes were destroyed in an accidental fire and those whose Annual Household Income is below $50,000.
Bala adds the recipient should also present proper land documentation and be able to declare that their house is not insured.
He says families who are eligible for the assistance program are allocated $5,000 each.
