Education Minister Doctor Mahendra Reddy will look into the concerns raised by some parents in relation to a primary school in Naulu as a teacher is telling the students to photocopy the text book notes and bring them to school.
The Ministry has already stated that the schools should provide the photocopied text book and work book material until the text books are printed and fully distributed by the government to all schools by the end of next month.
Fijivillage has been informed that over the past two months, a teacher at the school in Naulu has told students to photocopy their own material and bring them to school if they want to continue learning.
This has forced some parents to ask for assistance from their relatives to pay for the photocopy material.
It is not known how many teachers at the school are taking this approach.
We asked Doctor Reddy whether the teachers can force the students to bring their own photocopied material.
Fijivillage has also been informed that some schools in the West are telling teachers that they do not have photocopy paper or ink to print the material.
The Education Ministry has maintained that any school facing issues should contact the Ministry as the schools have to provide the photocopied material.
