Recommendations to set up a specialised team to further deal with specific areas in the Land Transport Industry has been included in the Land Transport Industry report which was handed over to the Minister for Transport, Pio Tikoduadua today.
This proposed specialised team will be separate from the Land Transport Authority.
The Land Transport Industry report was compiled by the Ministry for Anti-Corruption following reports of a number of complaints including alleged corruption cases within the LTA.
The preparations of the report started a year ago after consultations were held around the country.
Minister responsible for Anti-Corruption, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that another recommendation highlighted in the report include the setting up of a national bus timetable.
He said that there is generally a problem with enforcement in some areas around the country.
Minister for Transport, Pio Tikoduadua said that the report is open to further recommendations.
He has also agreed to the idea of bringing in specialised work to help the industry.
