Military recruit drowns while participating in field exercise

A military recruit taking part in a field exercise in Lokuya near Korovou town, Tailevu, drowned whilst negotiating the Waidalice River yesterday.

The RFMF said the recruit was part of a group of soldiers crossing the river when the accident occurred.

The recruit was participating in a field exercise consisting of recruit personnel who were undergoing their 12 weeks basic military training.

The RFMF and Police are now conducting investigations.
