The CEO of the Fiji Development Bank Deve Toganivalu says they have not been paid for their costs incurred while facilitating the government's Micro and Small Business Grant Scheme.
Toganivalu made this comment in the Public Accounts Committee Meeting when Opposition member Sela Nanovo asked him to explain about the $1,000 grant which is being supervised by the FDB.
Toganivalu also said that if he may use the word, it's a pain at the moment.
He says this is one thing they did not approve from FDB's side, as they said that handout is not the way to go.
Toganivalu says the way it was said to them was that it is in their manifesto to hand out.
He told the committee that they were after 1,000 applicants but they received 29,000 applications.
He said they only had $1m.
Toganivalu then told the Public Accounts Committee that they have a room full of boxes which have declined applications.
The CEO of FDB also gave an example to the committee about the Export Credit Facility. He says the previous Permanent Secretary sat with him and he told him that he has $1.5 million for exports.
Toganivalu said that he told the former Permanent Secretary to form the terms.
He claims that the previous Permanent Secretary had told him that there are no terms but assessments have to be made.
Toganivalu says that they normally work like that with the Ministry.
