The election of the new President of the Methodist Church in Fiji will be one of the top agenda at its Annual Conference this week.
Secretary of Communications, Reverend James Bhagwan said the position was left vacant after the sudden passing away of Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu earlier this year.
Reverend Bhagwan said the interim President Reverend Laisiasa Ratabacaca is ineligible to apply for the position as he is a retired church minister and he is over 70 years old.
He said under the Methodist church constitution any ordained minister who has served more than 10 years is eligible for the post of the President.
1000 delegates include church ministers are expected to attend the week-long Annual Conference.
The conference will be opened by Reverend Ratabacaca at the Centenary Church in Suva tomorrow.
