The Methodist Church policy on kava not to be consumed on Sunday till after the evening service still stands.
The decision was made at the Methodist Church conference following a thorough analysis by the Standing Committee.
Secretary for Communication and Overseas Mission Reverend James Bhagwan said the Church has put together a sub-committee to go through the issues very carefully, putting in mind the cultural protocol and the desires to be holy.
Reverend Bhagwan also said there should be no kava drinking and no smoking at the place of worship.
Last year the directive on no kava drinking was given by the late President Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu.
