The membership of the largest Christian denomination in Fiji, the Methodist Church, has dropped over the past 10 years.
This was revealed to the church ministers and delegates present this morning during the presentation of the Church’s statistics report.
Church Trust Secretary Livai Tuisaravere said from 2005 to 2014, the number of members dropped by 14,083.
It has been established that some members have joined other denominations as highlighted by Tuisaravere and some members are not committed although they were born and baptized in the Methodist Church.
Tuisaravere made a proposal that pastors should visit those who are sitting at home and ensure they have a target to increase the roll.
The current Methodist Church membership stands at 228,000.
Meanwhile, the former principal of the Davuilevu Theological College Reverend Doctor Epeneri Vakadewavosa is now the general secretary of the Methodist Church of Fiji.
