Around 5.30 this morning members of the public were already lining up in front of various polling stations eager to cast their votes.
The registered voters also said that they were surprised how the Fijian Elections Officials were ready to receive them by 7.30am.
Our reporter, Sheetal Kumar who is roving the Lami Nausori corridor and is currently at one of the polling stations in Makoi said that the around 350 people have lined up to vote.
More than 527,000 people are expected to cast their vote today at 1,800 polling stations.
Each polling station has a maximum of 500 registered voters.
Meanwhile, provisional results from majority of the polling stations for the 2014 general elections will be known tonight.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem confirmed that live updates of the provisional results will be given out as the counting officials communicate the information from the counting stations around the country.
